Private Wet Plate Collodion Tintype Workshop
This five hour workshop will give you the opportunity to make three to five tintypes as well as learn everything about the process, chemistry, and equipment involved. Workshops are private and can host up to two people. You can either photograph a still life or bring in a model as a subject. I have a few objects you can use to compose a still life (e.g. dried flowers, foliage, stones, cameras, etc.), but bringing your own subject material is highly encouraged.
This workshop is meant to be an experience for everyone. No prior photography or chemistry experience is necessary. HOWEVER….
If you are a photographer who wants to practice the wet plate process in their own darkroom PLEASE do not show up blind. This process is complicated, and I can only teach you so much in five hours. Try to learn as much as you can on your own before coming to me. That way I can spend more time going over technique and chemical maintenance and less time teaching the basics. Too many people have booked a workshop with the intent of practicing at home only to find out that they can’t because they need a darkroom.
